The River Cities Chapter of STAR Touring and Riding is dedicated to fun and safe recreational motorcycling. STAR Touring was formed around the STAR brand of Yamaha motorcycles, but membership is open to any brand, any year.
STAR Touring and Riding and Chapter 482 invites you to join us and have fun in a friendly and family oriented environment. Our membership is from all over Central Illinois, including the Peoria, Pekin and Bloomington metro areas, but not limited to those areas.
We plan rides on a regular basis throughout the year, weather permitting. We are just getting started, so watch us grow!

CHAPTER NEWS
UPDATE
STAR Days was a real HOT t ime at the Choo Choo! Yes, it was well into the 90's with high humidity every day, but that just made the pool outside our rooms that much more inviting.
There were several members of the chapter there, Mike & Di, Will and Janice, Randy and Lana and Don and Jan. Our friend Joe from Italy (via El Paso) was also there and added to the fun.
About 1000 Star members took over the Choo Choo and were all over the area on their bikes all week. I hope to have some pictures up soon.
Monthly meeting is Saturday July 31st, 1 pm at Cupi's, check the events calendar.
ILLINOIS STATE PICNIC A HUGE SUCCESS DESPITE WEATHER!
June 12th the day dawned cloudy, but dry, and hot and humid. Forecast was for 50% or better chance of thunderstorms, some serious during the day, especially the afternoon. The volunteers of chapter 482 gathered the Friday before to begin setup, and then again 7:30am on Saturday. The rain held off and about 125 or more people arrived during the day along with many regular customers for Sportland. The food was good, the talk was fun, and Sportland had some great sales going on. The Christian Motorcycle Association had up a booth, and the picnic charity auction was a huge success. We raised about $1000 for Central Illinois Riding Therapy (final total numbers will be announced soon).
The ride was about 50 miles into the Mackinaw River valley and a group of about 18 bikes rode AROUND a storm cell that could not catch up to us!
After the ride, with a major storm cell approaching, we closed out the auctions early, gave away prizes as fast as possible and got some people on the road before a big storm hit that almost took down the tent, and soaked pretty much everyone and everything. After about 40 minutes it tapered off a little and the 482 crew with some other help managed to get things picked up and put away. Shortly after 4pm it was pretty much all over with some people riding home in rain all the way depending on which direction they went.
Thanks again to all our sponsors, especially Sportland in Bloomington and Champaign for their great support. We even fed the staff of Sportland a hearty lunch for letting us disturb their day.

Mike and DI, Brad and Stephanie, and Don and Jan attended the new Chapter kick off of Chapter 488 in Elgin on Saturday Jan 16th. I looked like 25 to 30 STAR folks attended from around the area. We all went for food later and enjoyed the day.

To pursue, promote and protect the interests of motorcyclists; to develop better and more enthusiastic relations between the general public, the media and the operators and riders ofmotorcycles; to encourage rider participation in events; to promote motorcycle safety and camaraderie among members; to promote organized events; and in general, peform them in a lawful manner.
